The Maha Awas Yojana Gramin (MAY-G) is a housing scheme aiming to offer around 8,82, 135 houses in rural areas within a period of 100 days. This scheme will offer affordable housing to the needy who have been working hard for years simply to get a roof over their heads and basically to have a concrete place they can call home.

The work in this regard has started in full swing and the CMO of Maharashtra put out the announcement through his popular social media handle on Twitter.

The Maha Awas Yojana Gramin (MAY-G) would follow the same applicational guidelines as that followed by the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G).

As of now, there is no official portal where an interested applicant could apply for the benefits of the scheme, but one can rest assured that the state government is actively working in the direction to have a fully functional and easy-to-follow website up and running in a matter of days.

Eligibility criteria for the Maha Awas Yojana Gramin (MAY-G)

In order to apply for the scheme and turn out to be eligible for the benefits offered by the scheme, here are some things you need to know:

  1. Houseless families or families living in kutcha houses with zero, one, or two rooms can apply for the scheme.
  2. Households without a male adult aged between 19-59 years can apply for the benefits offered by this scheme.
  3. Households without a literate adult with a minimum age can apply for the scheme.
  4. Households with a disabled member.
  5. Households that do not own any land and earn from casual labour.
  6. Households belonging to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, and other minorities.
  7. Families that do not own any motorized vehicle, agricultural equipment, or fishing boat.
  8. Individuals who possess a Kisan credit card with a limit of ₹50,000 or more.
  9. Households without a government employee or individuals earning ₹10,000 or more on a monthly basis.
  10. Individuals who do not pay any professional tax, including income tax to the government in a fiscal year.
